Upgrading RAM on the Lenovo ThinkPad T480s

Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a popular ultrabook powered by either a 7th Gen Intel® Core™ i5 processor or, more commonly, 8th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors.

When it comes to memory, the T480s supports up to 20GB or 24GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM in dual-channel mode, depending on whether your model includes 4GB or 8GB soldered onto the system board. Alongside that soldered memory, Lenovo provides one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket for easy expansion.

Upgrading is simple, just follow the exact steps from my video tutorial. Power off and unplug the laptop, then remove the bottom cover with a screwdriver. Inside, you will find the available SO-DIMM slot next to the onboard RAM. Insert your new 8GB DDR4 module at a 30° angle, press down until it clicks, and reinstall the cover.

After powering up, check the BIOS or your operating system to confirm the full RAM capacity is detected. For extra assurance, run Lenovo Diagnostics to verify everything is functioning correctly.
